We visited Clearwater Beach, Florida, earlier this spring, with the intentions of enjoying some time away from the daily grind and killing time at a nice hotel. All this went horribly wrong. Having planned the vacation well ahead of time, and having made reservations with RAMADA, We arrived at what appeared to be a nice RAMADA hotel, only to discover we had been swindled. When we arrived, we found that the woman behind the desk, although very friendly, could not speak anything but broken English. We figured this was a very minor setback as we had dealt with this before, but we had no idea what was to come.
Naturally, the first thing we wanted to do upon entering the room is call home to check up on things, but we couldn't. When I reached for the phone, sparks showered out from behind the dresser, where the phone line was plugged in! Fearing a fire, we scrambled to quickly move the heavy dresser from the wall. Thankfully the fire had extinguished itself. What we found was a tangled, snarled mess of phone and electric wires. The phone line was burned through, and made the phone inoperable. We took it to the front desk to complain, only to find out they didn't have another one for us. They did let us use their phone at front desk when we needed to make a call, but this made it hard for us to do the simplest of things, Ex.- call front desk, call for food, transportation, check on times, etc... Even harder after 9:00pm, as there was a sign on the LOCKED Front Desk door that said "If you need help the attendant is ( at the Howard Johnson's hotel ) across the street" ! Next time, we will just stay across the street at Howard Johnson's, like the hired help!!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -07/23/01 We have written and Emailed RAMADA, Immediately after this experience SEVERAL TIMES, but still have not heard from them to this date ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7.31.01--Ramada
Inc. Finally writes back! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 15 2001- Still no word from Clearwater Ramada, the actual hotel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AUGUST 20th, 2001 FINALLY!!!!!! (?) not quite! After hours of complaining, following up with more complaints, months of being ignored by a major customer service oriented establishment, RAMADA ACTS! After requesting yet AGAIN, the SAME information which we supplied in ALL our correspondence, RAMADA determines we haven't been humiliated enough, and decides to kick more sand in our faces by sending us this "Credit", redeemable ONLY at RAMADA hotels. This is the amount of a "reimbursement" that the company decided we were owed for our time, trouble and displeasure. Needless to say, we promptly returned this certificate to RAMADA. Apparently, The people in charge of customer relations at RAMADA must think $40.00 toward ANOTHER RAMADA ROOM is supposed to smooth things over with us, and make us forget about the awful time which we described and documented here. They had the nerve to request the amount we paid for the room, which was $130.00, and then only reimburse us $40.00?! Did they even look at THIS Webpage? Did they read the letters? Maybe the company actually thought we would jump for joy and rush right out and redeem this certificate the first chance we got, at the first RAMADA we could find...? This is a slap in the face. We will never again bother to stay at a RAMADA hotel, or any of its affiliates, and I am surely going to let ALL of my friends and acquaintances know the awful consequences if they choose to stay there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We have not heard from Ramada since we returned their check . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We also have more grotesque pics. If you would like to see them, please write . For a nice stay, visit a RADISSON. We have never had a bad room there, and they always have clean rooms and take care of any and all your needs.
