Hotel Hell-Shawnee, Oklahoma

We arrived at the Ramada Inn, Shawnee, Oklahoma, on June 6th at 1 pm. Had reservations weeks in advance and confirmation #.  We were told that check-in time was 3 pm. and come back later.  (I once arrived at the Hotel Jefferson in Richmond Virginia a week early and they said, Deary, just put your bags in there and we'll watch them for you.) We had reserved a room on the ground floor but at three we found that our room was on the second floor, up a steep flight of stairs. Since I am 83 and my wife is 80. we had quite a struggle with our luggage. Finally a passer-by helped us. Upon arriving at our room, we discoved we had been given one towel to share in all our ablutions for the two  of us. (And not even on a roller). After two hours a maid came with more towels and I enquired if there were any vacant rooms on the first floor.  I was told there were "about 20'.  I asked if there were vacant rooms on the second floor and was told, " about 20'.  I suspect this was true because I counted only 22 cars in the parking lot at 3 pm, the check-in time.
I dialed the manager's office and her voice mail (At 3 pm) assured me that she would get in touch with me at once. She did not get in touch with me that Friday nor the next day which was Saturday.  I suspect that she was gone for the week-end all along.
The condition of the room left something to be desired.  There were holes in two doors where some one had tried to break them down. There were not enough hangers for our clothes, no new soap, the carpet was wet for hours. The desk clerk was an insolent person with a slovenly appearance. 
The friendly greetings that we got elsewhere in the South were not to be seen here.
My only comment after this debacle would be, "HAWTHORN SUITES FOREVER." Especially the one in Fort Worth at Green Oaks and Lackland Ave.
